OBJECTIVE OF POKER MENTEUR: The objective of Poker Menteur is to not be the first player to lose. NUMBER OF PLAYERS: 2 to 8 Players MATERIALS: A standard 52-card deck with 2 jokers, a way to keep score, and a flat surface. TYPE OF GAME: Bluffing Poker Card Game AUDIENCE: Adult OVERVIEW OF POKER MENTEUR Poker Menteur is a bluffing, poker card game for 2 to 8 players. The object of the game is to not be the loser.
Players will bluff about their poker hands and being caught results in penalty points. The first player to score enough penalty points is the loser. The number of penalty points needed to lose is set before the game begins.
SETUP The first dealer will be random. The dealer will shuffle the deck and deal a hand of 5 cards to the player to their left and only to the player to their left.
Between rounds of play, the deck is always shuffled and a new hand is dealt to the previous round’s loser. The dealer becomes the player to the losers right.
Card Rankings and Calls Cards are ranked traditionally. Ace (high), King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, and 2 (low). Two jokers are used as wild cards. These cards can be of any suit and rank.
This game uses traditional poker hands and their rankings. The only difference is a player can make an unspecified call like “2 pair” as an example. These are the lowest-ranked call of their type. Making a call of even two 2s is higher ranked than an unspecified call. 메이저사이트
Since there are also two jokers this makes 5 of a kind a possibility this call ranks the highest, even higher than a royal flush.
GAMEPLAY Once the first player is dealt the hand, they must make a call based on the cards in their hand. They do not have to be telling the truth. Play proceeds to the player to their left who now has two options. They may either accept the call as true or challenge the call.
If the call is accepted the hand is passed to the player to the left who will now look at the cards and may exchange 0 to 4 cards from the hand. After they exchanged, they now must make a new, higher-ranked call than the previous call that was made. The player to their left now has the chance to accept or challenge.
If challenging the round ends and there are two possibilities. Either the player was telling the truth, or they were lying. If telling the truth, the player who made the call must show the cards that make their call true, but only these cards. If they were lying, they state they were lying and discard the cards without showing anyone any of the cards. The call being true means the challenger is the loser of the round, receiving a penalty point, but if the call was false the caller is the loser and receives the penalty point.
After a challenge is made the new dealer will reshuffle the deck and deal a new 5 card hand to the previous loser and a new round will start.
END OF GAME The game ends once a single player receives the maximum allowed number of penalty points. They are the loser.
